Sungei Trip
Woke up at 645am and supposed to reach the reserve at 830am. but then i mistaken Kranji for Khatib. hmm.. and i realised those mistakes at the Tampines bus interchange but then it was too late. 715am then. but i am rather cool about that.. haha maybe u can say that is slackness. i intended to take the bus all the way to Woodlands and change for 925C since 969 wont pass by Kranji MRT at all. but then half way i decided to take taxi cos i was very late. so i got down the bus at Khatib MRT. but then Sungei is so ulu*forgotten it was a tourists' attraction*.. so i am not sure if taxi would take me there.. decided to take MRT to Kranji to take bus. in the end, when i reached Kranji, i saw 8 of the course mates there too..haha. and they were all late too. so we found our way to the Sungei Bulok Nature Reserve(SB) together.
This time round, the trip wasnt like that in Botanic Garden(BG) anymore. All ard is the same. trees and plants and mosquitoes, pretty much like outfield. and lesser birds were spotted. more were spotted at BG. and the birds at SB are very shy of humans. if one approached a conservative dist from them, they would fly off immediately. On the way saw a lot of monitor lizards too. some as huge as 1 plus metre. very nice creatures.. but then i still dunno wat is the diff bet kodomo dragons and monitor lizards. and took some pics of the sceneries, birds, lizards, structures, landscapes and people too. The lecturer again gained my praise as he again spotted those birds we cant spot. there r some birds which he spotted and placed telescope for us to see, but then we cant even see the bird thru the scope and need a few seconds to search as those birds r realli very very well camouflaged wif the surroundings. the regret i had is to missed out seeing the purple heron. i was resting when they spotted it. heard it is the 3rd largest bird in Singapore. but then we saw the white chested eagle at the viewing tower. trying to see wif binos.. but then it keep flying in circles.. so i was very dizzy in the end and still couldnt catch a glimpse of it using the binos. oh yar, there was this flame backed woodpecker which flew above us loud cries.. it scared the gals in the grp and they ducked to avoid it. It was flying low and was flying up and down, seems like it was not in the right state, but that is the way how woodpeckers fly. haha.
Had a good view of sungei on the tower. Johor was just at the oppo bank and we could clearly see Johor from SB. very near indeed.
Also saw the restricted and protected island in the reserve, forgotten is called palau dunnowat. heard onli researchers wif permits are allowed to go there. and mangrove area r very facinating cos the way plants survive is very diff from plants in other habitats. also, the survival is competitive there. and there r families bringing babies there, one in pram somemore.. think it is not wise to bring some babies there.. as they r prone to insect bites.. saw one baby wif mozzie bites all over.. so saddening. and he was on the pram which wobbles when his mama is pushing him on the rocky pathway. Those granites on the path and the large granite rocks used to pave the way r to allow easy trekking and to reduce erosion due to seawater(the path will eventually be gone if not for the rock embankement) respectively.
Not a bad experience as 1st time there. though i was tired and didnt pay attention to the lecturer halfway thru and missed a lot of interesting stuffs. but overall still enjoyed and learnt from the trip there.
Later on th bball people r having bball session at Hougang. but i am a little tired and not willing to exercise so furiously, so i am not going to meet them. may meet Hanlip and CG(if he is not going to bball)to go elsewhere then. been wif them recently, but missed the bball guys. sad lar.. my arm is like not recovering lei..
